Rainwater Harvesting |
||
Capturing and storing rainwater for use in your home and office |
||
Despite the fact that the UK appears to have plenty of rain, our growing population and changing climate mean that our water resources are under pressure. Just like any other domestic resource, scarcity means only one thing: an increase in cost to you, the consumer. Mains water also uses huge amounts of energy to process, and a majority of it is used for applications that rainwater can easily meet (like washing machine use).Rainwater harvesting can reduce your use of mains water by up to 50% and reduce your impact on the environment. At Area Energy we tailor our rainwater harvesting solutions, enabling you to customise a solution that fits your needs perfectly. |

Rainwater Harvesting captures and stores everyday rainwater from your roof for use in the home or office. Water can be stored in underground or surface tanks and used for a range of applications including laundry, flushing toilets, general cleaning, car cleaning, and garden irrigation.Each installation is completely self-contained with its own water filtration and mains-free pumping system for delivering the water to where it's needed. If you’re worried about running out of rainwater, don’t be, we offer a unique mains back-up system that seamlessly switches over to the mains if you’re running low. |

All of our consultations begin by calculating the amount of rainwater you have available. The amount depends on three primary factors: where you live (area of the UK), how big your roof is (surface area), and the kind of tiles on your roof.A typical family of four requires 66,000 litres of water per year. Living in Hampshire (which has approximately 75cm of rain per year) with a clay roof area of 100m2 can provide over 67,000 litres – more than enough to meet the needs of the household. |

Your storage requirements are determined by the amount of water your property needs - typically determined by the number of occupants in your property.You can store rainwater in a range of storage containers, either underground or in surface tanks. At Area Energy we supply a complete range of storage tanks from huge underground containers capable of servicing large companies to discreet above ground containers used for watering the garden.

After you’ve chosen how you would like to store your captured rainwater, the final decision involves how you would like to deliver your rainwater to where it is needed. Delivering your rainwater will nearly always use some kind of water pump. Our pumps meet all needs, from fully submersible underground pumps to portable garden pumps that can be used where they’re needed.We are also pleased to offer the iWater iPump – an intelligent pump that can switch between stored rainwater and mains water when required – ensuring a seamless water supply regardless of your tank levels.
